Your Standard CME Requirements:
Your Florida PA license renewal requires a total of 100 hours of continuing education during each two-year renewal cycle (biennium).
-

- Category I or II: The remaining hours can be completed using either AMA Cat I or AMA Cat II.
- Medical Errors: 2 hours are required every biennium.
- Domestic Violence: 2 hours are required every third biennium, and these hours are included within the 98 General hours.

Understanding your Transcript:
Of the 100 total hours, 98 hours are designated as General CE. These 98 hours have the following structure:
- Category I hours: A minimum of 48 General hours must be Cat I CME. If you are a Prescribing PA, the minimum hours are reduced to 45 General hours.
-
Category II hours: The remaining 50 General hours can be completed using either AMA Cat I or AMA Cat II.
- Please note that because Cat II hours are optional for fulfilling the remaining 50 hours, this subject area will display as 0 required.
- Simultaneous posting: The Florida Board of Physician Assistants allows Medical Errors and Domestic Violence hours to simultaneously fulfill the General CAT I requirement. This provision allows you to complete the required subject area and the General CAT I at the same time.
*First Biennium Renewal: If you are renewing your license for the first time, you are required to complete one hour of HIV/AIDs.
If you are a PA who is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), you can report an exemption. Learn more here: How to Report the NCCPA Exemption.
