Medical Physicists licensed by the Texas Medical Board must complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) every renewal cycle. The renewal cycle is biennial, running June 1 to May 31, and your CE reporting cycle lines up with your renewal cycle.
First Renewal requirements
If your first license cycle runs 24 months or longer, you complete the full standard requirement described below. If your first cycle is shorter than 24 months, you’re exempt from CE entirely for that first cycle.
Hour Requirements
All 24 hours can be any board-recognized continuing education — there’s no required subject-area breakdown and no Human Trafficking Training requirement for this profession.
A few general rules apply: the minimum reportable CE activity is just 0.01 hours, hours can be reported in increments as small as 0.01, and you’re allowed to repeat the same course for credit within the same biennium. There are no delivery-method restrictions.
Banking Excess Hours
Texas does not allow Medical Physicists to carry excess CE hours into the next renewal cycle. All 24 hours must be earned within your current biennium.
