Texas Medical Board (TMB) licensees providing direct patient care must complete a human trafficking prevention course approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).
Because application rules and renewal frequencies vary by profession under the TMB, the CE Broker system customizes the details specifically for your license type. Once you begin the reporting process inside your account, you can click the Learn More section to review the exact application rules for your specific profession.
Key Requirement Details
- Tracking: There is no set number of required hours. This requirement is tracked as a Yes/No completion in CE Broker.
- Dual Credit: Depending on the profession, hours earned from an approved course may count toward your overall Formal (Category 1 or 1A) total and may also satisfy Medical Ethics and/or Professional Responsibility requirements.
- Mandatory Approval: Only courses specifically approved by the HHSC fulfill this requirement.
Board-approved exemptions:
The requirement is excused for the current renewal cycle if the Board approves an exemption for any of the following reasons
- Attestation of Not Practicing Direct Patient Care in the Cycle
- Active military service
- Residence outside the United States
- Catastrophic illness
- Other "Good Cause" as determined by the Board
If an exemption is applied, the CE Broker system will automatically calculate and update your next required completion date.
