Acudetox Specialist is a supplemental permit added to another Texas license (such as Acupuncture, Social Work, or Nursing) — it isn’t a standalone profession on its own. Acudetox Specialists must complete 3 hours of continuing education (CE) every renewal cycle. The renewal cycle is triennial, running April 1 to March 31 every three years. (This profession recently transitioned from a 2-year to a 3-year cycle; regardless of how long your current cycle runs, your CE requirement is the same 3 hours.)
First Renewal requirements
First-time licensees complete the same 3-hour requirement as every other renewal — there’s no reduced or prorated requirement for your first cycle.
Hour Requirements
All 3 hours must be Continuing Auricular Acupuncture Education.
A Note on Human Trafficking Training
Human Trafficking Training is still technically required of you as an individual, but it’s tracked and fulfilled under your primary license — the one your Acudetox permit is attached to — rather than on your Acudetox transcript. You won’t see it listed as a separate requirement here.
Banking Excess Hours
Texas does not allow Acudetox Specialists to carry excess CE hours into the next renewal cycle. All 3 hours must be earned within your current cycle.
