Credits on your account might show zero hours if the course wasn't approved for your profession, was reported manually with incorrect details, or was misreported by the educational provider. You can contact the provider to verify approval and request re-reporting if needed. If you reported the course incorrectly, delete and re-report it with correct information. Use the CE Broker Course Search to find approved courses if necessary.
If you are checking your account to see why your continuing education (CE) is not counting, it is important to first determine if you are experiencing an individual course issue or an overall tracking question based on your account type.
The standard Basic Account provides a static checklist of your licensing board's rules. It does not update your completion progress in real time. If you have a Basic Account, you must manually compare your completed hours against this list.
However, if an individual course in your official Course History shows zero hours or displays a specific system warning symbol, the credit has not been applied due to a specific reporting issue.
Reasons You Might Not Be Receiving Credit for a Course
If a course in your account shows 0 hours in your course history, it might mean that the course was not approved for your profession in the subject area it was applied to, that it was self-reported but did not include the correct hours or approval for the subject area or profession, the course date of completion might be outside of the current renewal cycle, or that the educational provider might have reported the credit incorrectly.
Courses marked with "Not a course for the Transcript reported" and a warning symbol indicate that the 0 hours were applied for one of these reasons.
⚠️ Course completion date outside renewal period
This message appears when a course is completed on a date that falls outside the current renewal cycle displayed in your CE Broker account. For example, if your renewal deadline was April 30 and the course was completed on May 1, this warning mighj appear.
Depending on your specific Board regulations, these hours may or may not count toward your current requirements. This label serves as a notification that the completion date does not align with the standard cycle dates currently on file.
⚠️ Not a course for the transcript reported
This message indicates that the course might not be approved for your specific profession or regulating board. When an educational provider submits a course for approval, they may only request it for certain license types.
For example, a course may be approved for Medical Doctors but not for Osteopathic Physicians. If you see this message, the course might not satisfy your specific requirements because the provider did not have it approved for your particular license type.
⚠️ Hours Not Applied. Posted to Prior License Cycle
This message appears when the system detects a shortage of hours from a previous renewal period. If required by your Board, the system will automatically apply the first available credits you complete to satisfy the previous cycle before applying them to your current requirements.
Any affected courses will display this notification. Even if you previously completed your requirements and renewed your license, your regulating entity may require that all CE records be reported to your CE Broker account before credits can be applied to your current renewal period.
Troubleshooting Hours Not Applied. Posted to Prior License Cycle
If you see this message next to a mandatory Laws & Rules requirement on your 2022–2024 CE Cycle, check your 2020–2022 CE Cycle. The system may have applied your new course to cover a missing credit from that period.
If you completed a Laws & Rules course for 2020–2022, report it to your account and the system will adjust your hours. If not, you’ll need to take a new course to meet the 2022–2024 requirement.
Troubleshooting Not Receiving Credit for a Course
If the course was reported by the educational provider, contact them directly to confirm whether it was approved for your profession and subject area, and request that it be re-reported if there was an error. If the provider plans to offer credit for your profession but hasn’t yet, they can reach out to CE Broker for review.
If the course isn’t approved for your licensure, you will need to find alternative credit using the CE Broker Course Search. For courses you self-reported incorrectly, simply delete the entry and report it again with the correct information.
Understanding the Requirements Checklist for Basic Accounts
The Requirements section in your CE Broker account is a reference tool that outlines the continuing education required for your current license renewal cycle.
If you are reviewing your account checklist and your compliance status says "Not Complete", please follow these guidelines:
Review the Tab: The Requirements tab is a general outline of renewal requirements and does not reflect your individual, real-time completion progress.
Verify the Cycle: Check the Transcript Cycle date range to confirm the period for which the requirements apply.
Track Your Compliance Manually: As a Basic user, you must use the Requirements tab as a checklist. Manually compare the courses you have completed and reported in your account against these requirements to determine your current progress toward compliance.
