The "license number not found" message in CE Broker can occur if the license is recently issued (taking 7-15 business days to update), is a Preliminary or Intern type not integrated into the system, the license number format is incorrect, or the wrong state is selected. Users should verify details and state selection, and contact support if issues persist.
License Number Not Found Message
Activating a new CE Broker account may show a "license number not found" message due to four reasons: the license was recently issued; the license is a Preliminary or Intern type not integrated into CE Broker; incorrect license number format, which must match the state's exact format including punctuation; or selecting the wrong state during license search. Users should verify their license details and state selection, and contact support if issues persist.
Recently Issued Licenses
If your license was recently issued, it may not yet be available in the CE Broker system. We receive updated licensee data directly from the State Boards. Depending on your specific Board, it can take between 7 to 15 business days for new license information to be transmitted to our platform.
If you were licensed within the last two weeks, please allow for this synchronization period before attempting to register again.
The license is a Preliminary or Intern License Type
State Boards do not currently integrate these preparatory licensures into the CE Broker system.
While you will not be able to create an account until a "fully fledged" professional license is issued by your regulating entity, you can still utilize the CE Broker course search as a reference for pre-approved courses to help meet your compliance needs!
Unsupported Profession or State Board
One common reason your license may not be found is that CE Broker does not currently track for your specific profession or state board. While we partner with over 100 regulatory boards, we do not track every profession in every state. To verify if your specific board and profession are currently using CE Broker for official tracking, please review this comprehensive article link: Boards and Regulating Entities Working with CE Broker.
The license number format is incorrect.
As there is no universal standard for license numbers, license number formats can vary from state to state.
When typing in your license number, it must be added exactly as it appears on your state's verification website. This includes all numbers, letters, spaces, and punctuation.
Common license number mistakes include:
Missing numbers
Missing letters
Missing punctuation
Missing qualifiers
You can contact your regulating board if you need further clarification on your license number format. If you confirm your license number and format are correct, but continue to receive the license not found message, please get in touch with our support team for further assistance.
Ensuring that you are selecting the appropriate State in the license search.
CE Broker tracks professions across 100+ regulating boards and agencies. If an incorrect state is selected, you may see a message saying your license number cannot be found.
To ensure your license is correctly located:
Go back one page and click Explore Other Plans at the top of the screen.
Select Your Location, then choose the correct State ▾ and Profession ▾ from the drop-down menus.
Once your state and profession are correct, select your preferred account plan: Professional, Pro +, Concierge, or Free Basic.
If you have verified that your license was issued more than 15 business days ago and your format matches the State Board records exactly, our team is here to help.
